Encouragement is often something that leaders overlook. They think that providing vision and management is enough to get a team to work together or achieve a goal. However, remember that teams are made up of individuals who have different personalities and talents. The organization will only benefit from those talents if encouragement is part of the culture.
Often people lack confidence, especially in a work environment. They will hold back if they think they will be mocked for their ideas or that they may fail. Fear is one of the biggest reasons people fail to reach their goals, because of their fears they don’t even try. In his book “Be All You Can Be!” John C. Maxwell explains that people need to be told “Yes you can” before they may try something new. This is the role of a leader, to provide encouragement and tell people that “Yes they can”. Your encouragement as a leader in a way gives people permission to succeed.
Who have you encouraged or inspired lately?
I love this and definitely
agree… My question would be: Should
encouragement be measured or graced? Do you think an overdose of it could
create a monster? If so, how do you as a leader manage/avoid such a thing? I
have found that you get better results when you encourage someone!!! Sometimes
it even keeps you from having to have those uncomfortable conversations;
encouragement can sometimes bring self correction. Those you lead will ultimately
want the best for themselves and the team. When people know that you are aware
of their Pros they realize that their Cons are just as noticeable(in SOME cases…lol). —my
opinion—. TravEd
Thanks for taking time to stop by & comment. As you can see, I’m doing something w/that “more than a pastor…” Thanks for the push! I love the question. I believe that if we’re sincere w/encouragement, then go for it. The last thing we want to do is practice false humility. Also, loving leaders confront & correct when necessary keeping in mind their approach. Like you, I don’t want to create monsters w/false humility. I believe having those uncomfortable conversations only strengthens the respect level of a leader. Good stuff!!!
Yes I see the Tag(Life Coach)and it’s meant to be!!!
Keep coaching us…
10 souls for the
team yesterday!!!
People don’t wantto just be sent to hell for everything, people are looking for answers and THAT my good Sr. you are allowing the spirit to provide through you, which makes ministry with you rewarding and unique. You are forming a team that reflects you and the long term benefits will result in rest and longevity. So many Pastors die young and or from health issues related to stress. Having the RIGHT team will change your future and determine your race!
Re: Your response
I’m gathering that you are saying that
correction should come immediately, THEN continue to encourage?
Thanks for sharing I enjoy the blogs!

10 souls added to the kingdom…
All I can say is, “look at what God has done.” I’m simply amazed at what God’s doing, especially during our 8 AM services. It’s apparent that we are in a good place!
Thanks for your encouraging words, they really mean a lot. It’s exciting to partner with people who have your heart. In essence, they make ministry fun & I can officially declare: Ministry’s fun again! LOL!
Also, I receive that prophecy regarding resting well and longevity! You are so correct – too many pastors die way too young. That’s why I’m posting snippets from my workout so that others will get motivated. If I haven’t said it enough, sir, it’s a pleasure serving alongside of you.
Regarding my response: I believe that encouragement should come before correction and then conclude with another dose of encouragement.
