Sermon Overview
In this sermon, I discussed the importance of faith, perseverance, and the willingness to go through the process to achieve God’s promises.
I used the story of Joshua and the battle of Jericho as a metaphor for the struggles we face in life. I emphasized that the walls we face are not physical but psychological, and our mindset can limit or empower us.
I also highlighted that just because we have faith doesn’t mean we can bypass the process. We must be willing to go through the process, no matter how challenging it may be, to reach the promises of God.
Finally, I also stressed the importance of not letting what we see make us forget God’s words.
Key takeaways (YouTube Timestamps):
- The walls we face are physical and psychological; our mindset can limit or empower us. [11:36]โ
- Just because we have faith doesn’t mean we can bypass the process. We must be willing to go through the process to reach the promises of God. [15:11]โ
- We should not let what we see make us forget God’s words. We must hold onto God’s gifts, even when our circumstances seem challenging. [18:57]โ
- We should not oversimplify someone else’s or wish we had their hand. We don’t know what they endured to get to where they are. [12:21]โ
- When walking in God’s pGod’se, we should not allow what we see to mute the voice of what He says. [19:50]โ
Daily Devotional
Day 1: The Power of Psychological Wallsโ
โ
Often, the most significant obstacles we face are not physical but psychological. Our beliefs and mindsets can create walls that hinder our progress and limit our potential. But with God’s hGod’swe can challenge these beliefs and break down these walls.
โ
Proverbs 4:23 – “Above “else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
โ
โReflection: Reflect on a recent situation where you felt blocked or hindered. Was this obstacle physical or psychological? If it was psychological, what belief or mindset was holding you back? How can you challenge this belief or mindset in the future?
โ
โDay 2: The Danger of Oversimplifying Others Successโ
โ
It’s looking at someone else’s success and thinking it came quickly or without struggle. But this oversimplification can lead to feelings of inadequacy and frustration. Remember, everyone’s journey is unique and filled with unseen challenges.
โ
1 Corinthians 9:24 – “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.”
โ
โReflection: Can you remember when you oversimplified someone else’s victory or success? How did this affect your perception of your journey or process? How can you remind yourself in the future that everyone’s journey is unique and filled with unseen challenges?
โ
โDay 3: The Importance of Following God’s Processโ
โ
God has a process for our lives, and while it may be tempting to try and bypass it, doing so can lead to unintended consequences. Embrace God’s process and trust in His timing.
โ
Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
โ
โReflection: Reflect on when you tried to bypass a process in your life. What was the outcome? How did it affect your faith journey? How can you better embrace God’s process in your life moving forward?
โ
โDay 4: The Power of Collective Shoutโ
โ
There is power in collective faith and action. When we come together as a community of believers, we can overcome obstacles and achieve victories that would be impossible alone.
โ
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 – “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either falls, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.”
โ
โReflection: Can you recall a time when collective faith or action helped you overcome an obstacle or achieve a victory? How did this experience impact your faith? How can you encourage collective faith or action in your community?
โ
โDay 5: Don’t Let What You See Make You Forget What God Saidโ
โ
Our circumstances can often make us forget God’s promises. But we must hold onto His word, even when what we see seems impossible.
โ
2 Corinthians 5:7 – “For we live by faith, not by sight.”
โ
โReflection: Reflect on a time when what you saw made you forget what God said. How did this affect your faith and actions? How can you better hold onto God’s promises, even when what you see seems impossible?
