Two weeks ago I beta tested Digging Deeper ONLINE featuring The Book of Nehemiah for over 150 people from six different states – what an exciting time! I conducted a survey to see how we could make the experience more engaging and life-changing. If you’d like to review the survey, you can click HERE.
Judging from the result of the surveys, many desire a more interactive Bible study experience. In other words, be able to engage in active participation, discussion, and ask questions (I don’t blame you one bit). In order to do this and make Digging Deeper ONLINE more meaningful, we decided to reduce the class sizes (25 or less), offer multiple sessions, and focus on quality teaching and personal interaction.
For the past two weeks, I’ve been praying about how to make our online learning experiences more meaningful. Although online learning, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites cannot and will not replace actual face-to-face gatherings, technology is a tool to support, strengthen, and enhance live gatherings.
Therefore, I’d like to introduce our proposed schedule…
Wednesday, February 9, 2011 was the first day of many FUTURE online Bible studies. In my humble opinion and judging from the opinions of others, Digging Deeper Online was a HUGE SUCCESS. Of course not everyone will embrace the concept of “Digital Discipleship” but, I’ve decided to leverage technology to help people take their next steps towards maturity.
Thank you for taking time to take the survey. I sincerely appreciate the time you spent answering the questions and recommending strategies for improvement. Your advice was very helpful and gave me a new perspective on how to make Digging Deeper Online better.
I especially appreciate your offer to help spread the word and invite others to attend. I promise I will follow up with contacts you email to me right away (pastorstowers@marshillchgo.org). Any additional suggestions you may have would be welcomed and I will keep you posted on future online Webinars/Training.
I am literally AMAZED at what happened last night during Digging Deeper Online. The Lord met us online and we ALMOST went to church. I want to thank everyone who attended…WE MADE HISTORY together! In my humble opinion and judging from the comments of those who attended, Digging Deeper Online was a HUGE success. So, how did it all begin?
Last week the City of Chicago (and many other states) experienced heavy snowfall. When the snow settled, Chicago received 21″ of snow which almost broke an all-time record. Consequently, many were snowed in and began conversing via Facebook and Twitter. Darius Williams suggested I host an online Bible Study and I accepted his challenge. I’m grateful for the Blizzard of 2011 and this week’s EXTREMELY cold temperatures. Why? Thanks to Darius’ suggestion, Digging Deeper ONLINE was birthed!

Happy Monday & welcome to Monday’s Online School of Leadership!
I’m enjoying our time together as we discuss and discover leadership from a servant’s perspective. If this is your first time with us, check out Session One: “The Best Kept Leadership Secret” by reading Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 .
Last week I began Session 2 – The Power of Being a Servant-Leader. If you haven’t read it, you can do so HERE. Friday’s session ended with me sharing the consequences of not having a servant-leader attitude. Again, if you haven’t read it, you can CLICK HERE and read it NOW. Today, let’s take a look at David’s heart – the right attitude towards servant-leadership.
Personally, I’m enjoying sharing my thoughts on servant-leadership. I know it’s counter-cultural to what we know about leadership. However, if you desire to lead God’s way, then servant-leadership is the way to go. Yesterday I began the conversation sharing The Power of Being a Servant-Leader. If you haven’t read it, you can read it HERE. Today, I’d like to continue the conversation by sharing the consequences of not having a servant-leader attitude.
It might seem like a crazy idea to start a new business when the economy is in a prolonged recession. A recession can actually be the ideal time for launching a company. In fact, many well-known and successful organizations were born during an economic slump.
For example FedEx Corp. began operations on April 17, 1973 as Federal Express, a nod to the Federal Reserve, with whom founder Frederick W. Smith had hoped to get a contract. He didn’t, but the company that delivered 186 packages to 25 cities on its first night of operations now manages more than 7.5 million shipments everyday worldwide.
Well, if great companies are birthed out of recessions, then it’s equally plausible for great ministries to be birthed in the time of crisis. Recently, Chicago, along with several states experienced The Great Blizzard of 2011. This blizzard literally shut down our city and forced many churches to cancel their Bible studies and activities.
My good friend Darius Williams of Every Day Cookin DOT COM challenged me to host on online Bible study and I took the bait. Thank you Darius for issuing the challenge to host a live Bible study. Had it not been for the Blizzard of 2011, this idea wouldn’t have come to fruition. You started something huge man & I’m pumped.
I’m inviting a few people to join me as I beta test this online Bible study. Working with this group will allow us to test the process and work through the challenges. If you’d like to join me:
