I am amazed at all God did @ Mars Hill yesterday.  It officially goes down in history as one of my favorite Sunday’s of ALL TIME.  Why?  Spirit-filled men ignited praise that spontaneously spread throughout our congregation & in our overflow (on video).  Spiritually, God’s doing something ‘new’ and ‘powerful’ at our church and it blows my mind each Sunday.  I’m trying to wrap my head around and rationalize what God’s doing, but it’s difficult to explain an authentic “move of God.”

There’s no “secret sauce” or “special ingredients” I can share other than a desire to be in His presence; a life yielded totally to Him; and allowing the Holy Spirit to lead one step at a time.  When we do this, God determines the increase.  Therefore, I’ve decided to ‘ride’ the wave God created and be obedient to where He leads…even if that road leads to spiritual warfare.

Scripture unquestionably tells us that ALL Christians are involved in a battle, a struggle, and a veritable war.  We’re told that we fight, not human forces, but spiritual principalities and powers that inhabit the atmosphere around us.  Furthermore, we’re told to put on the “whole armor of God that we might be able to effectively withstand the attacks from the evil one” (Ephesians 6:10-18).  Spiritual victories are won through a variety of methods, such as intercessory prayer or the confession of God’s word.  But there’s another form of spiritual warfare available to us – PRAISE!

Scripture makes it clear that evil powers hover over nations, cities, households, and even individuals.  I use to believe stone-faced, cold, and critical members were the enemy.  I would look out over the congregation and see these people and their posture and demeanor would produce a ‘heavy’ spirit.  I no longer believe they are the enemy.  My enemy is the satan who desires to stop God’s people from experiencing God’s presence.  Therefore, I resolve to be “battle-ready” and go into battle on the behalf of God’s people.

If satan tries to bind God’s people in their freedom of praise and worship, then that hindrance must be broken.  It’s not a time to rehearse music – it’s a time to enter into high praise and corporately attack the spiritual shackles of God’s people.  If this is done, breakthrough will happen!

We war in praise, and we praise when the victory is won!

Question: Are you prepared for the battle?
